An Ornithologist’s Paradise with over 400 Species of Birds

The park offers an incredible more than 400 different species of fish-eating, terrestrial, water and migratory birds including pelican, secretary bird, fish eagle, grebe ,heron, egret and  hammerkop

It’s the Kenya’s First Rhino Sanctuary

Established as Kenya’s first rhino sanctuary, the park now hosts both white and black rhino.Black rhino are grayish in colour but white rhino have wide, flat snout suitable for grazing while black rhino have a concave black and a triangular prehensile lip for browsing on trees and shoots. Black rhino prefer bushy forested areas, while white rhino prefer to graze in open grasslands, most especially those of the lake shore.

Wild animals

Includes Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelle, the rare long-eared leaf-nosed bat. colobus monkey, rock hyrax, hippopotamus, leopard, lion, rhinoceros, waterbuck, impala, gazelle, striped hyena, bar-eared fox. wild cat. reedbuck and golden cat, the endangered Rothschild’s Giraffe.
